About
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Energy Storage System Lab (PI: Professor Jimin Oh) at Kyungpook National University. I completed my Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence in February 2026 under the supervision of Professor Bo-Yeong Kang.
My research covers natural language processing, language learning, and applied machine learning. I am interested in how language models learn and represent linguistic information, and how computational methods can be used to study and support learning.
Research
My doctoral research focused on adaptive intelligent tutoring systems. I developed PATS (Pedagogical Knowledge-Augmented Prompting), a tutoring framework that models learner characteristics from dialogue history and uses them to select teaching strategies for response generation.
My recent NLP work examines linguistic representations in language models. One line of work investigates whether representations of learner English contain information about a writer’s native language. I am also interested in how language models acquire linguistic patterns and how their learning relates to human language acquisition.
I also work on applied AI problems. At the Energy Storage System Lab, I study machine learning methods for battery diagnostics, including transfer learning under domain shift and limited data. I also participate in a project on lightweight language models for analyzing misconceptions in physics education.
Background
I studied English Education at Kyungpook National University before pursuing graduate degrees in Artificial Intelligence. My master’s research focused on interactive reinforcement learning using human feedback, followed by doctoral research on learner modeling and intelligent tutoring systems.
